Delaware
The Delaware was first bred in Ocean View, Delaware in 1940. This breed was originally bred for use as a meat bird, but they should not be overlooked by their ability to lay eggs (We keep them for eggs and pets). Delawares are a large breed that lay large brown eggs. They are typically very docile. Their large size also allows them to be very cold-hardy.
